How are those ‘green’ resolutions working out for you?

Have they, like the one to go to the gym three times a week, become a dim and distant memory or are you well on your way to saving the world?

Never fear! The 4th Tuesday of the month is the Britmums Green Roundup where you can forget your diet and stuff your face full of eco-friendly inspiration.

You’ll get tips and pointers on living the ‘Good life’ whatever your level of experience. You’ll find links to established bloggers who live and breathe an eco-friendly life, newbies who share their green adventures and bloggy challenges and tutorials so you can roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

Stockpiling

Kicking off this month is Deb with her brand new blog “Birdoosh”. She covers the topic of stockpiling, not because the end of the world is nigh, but because it makes life simpler. What’s this got to do with green living? If you’ve got a well-stocked pantry, you don’t need to make numerous trips to the supermarket where you might come out with 10 bars of chocolate from the reduced stand or a new TV ;) Go and see what Deb has squirrelled away.

Slowing down

Think you don’t have time to go green? Jackie has explored this topic over on Green and Natural Living. She, a self-confessed ‘serial doer’ reminds us that “being greener is about making small changes to your usual routines so they become second nature” and shares one simple, yet profound tip to help you achieve your goal. Can you guess what it is?

Top 10 rice dishes

A considerable element of this green living lark is avoiding waste. In the kitchen you do that by using up what you already have; simple, right? Got a tablespoon of leftover sweetcorn? The end of a tin of tuna? The bread crusts that no one will eat? Don’t throw them away; turn them into tomorrow’s dinner. If you find yourself with too much cooked rice, check out mamacook’s top 10 rice dishes for inspiration.

Natural cold remedy

Mid winter is often a time of colds and flu. Have you ever stopped to think what’s in an over-the-counter remedy? E-numbers, SLS and phenylephrine hydrochloride says mellow mummy. What’s a green mama to do? Make your own of course! Check out this all-natural honey, lemon and ginger tonic. Cold be gone!

Don’t buy it!

I vow, for one month from 1st Feb, to avoid shopping for anything other than essentials” Wow! Could you do it? I know many bloggers take on this challenge and personally I love how being green can be incredibly frugal too. It’s not all about hybrid cars and expensive solar panels; it can be as simple as one of my favourite phrases “Use it up, Wear it out, Make it Do or Do without” Go henceforth to cheer Digfortea on as she gets to the finishing line and think about taking the baton yourself…

If that’s not enough green living content for you, head over to some of the Brit Mum’s groups: Green parents, Allotment bloggers, The Simple Life or the gardening group. And if you missed last month’s nail bitingly exciting green instalment, go and check it out!

What about you – Have you written about something green and eco this week? Add your post to the linky below so we can come and steal your ideas and pass them off as our own be inspired and join you.
